working on getting our family back into our daily routine after a week+ apart. This week has been far from normal though, so it hasn't been easy. I'm going into this weekend exhausted but eager for a fresh start on Monday.
relieved and so. so proud of Mark and his friend, Tim. While my sister and I were exploring Portland, they were on their own adventure, climbing Grand Teton in Wyoming. I love this video Tim put together of highlights from their trip, including reaching the summit. It's so cool - and you'll see why I think it's such a big deal. And why I was so damn nervous.
wearing these Birks every single day. I'm seriously going to be sad when the weather is too cold to wear them all the time.
missing the amazing coffee shops in Portland. I've had one cup of coffee from my Keurig since I've been home and it was blech. I shouldn't have been surprised. This weekend, I need to pull out my french press and buy some good beans so I can change up my brewing method.
reading All the Light We Cannot See after finishing Scary Close during our trip. Scary Close is probably my favorite book so far this year. I love how the author mixed in his personal stories and I found his honesty to be incredibly inspiring + admirable. It made me think a lot about my own relationships and how I can be a better spouse, a better parent, a better friend. It was a pretty quick read (and one I'll read again) and I loved his writing style so much, I want to check out his other books. I also bought Design Mom this week upon Elise's recommendation and can't wait to dig in.
loving this post from Kelly about her new Clearly Kelly holiday collection. Check out the short video to see the clear stamp sets available for pre-order in her shop. Noel and All Decked Out are my personal faves!
anticipating more sporadic blogging in August. I have so many in-progress projects that I'm working on prioritizing and finishing, and yet I also want to enjoy the last full month of summer with my kids too. It's been a game of balance and also deciding what can wait until later (whenever that is). I've been using my Get To Work Book to break down each project into small tasks and then adding the tasks to my daily to-do list. Looking back at July, I know I was overzealous with what I could realistically get done. August will be better.
Have a great weekend!
