For many years, Kelly Purkey’s brand and products have been among my favorites in my memory-keeping projects and I’m excited to be a part of her Creative Team again starting this month!
While I haven’t been terribly productive in filling up my summer album in real time, I have taken a lot of photos and journal almost every day. Keeping a written record of what we've been up to is extremely helpful for me to remember what I want to document from the last few months. When my kids go back to school and I regain my focus + alone time, I should be able to catch myself up. This month, I’ve added two spreads to my book with Kelly’s newest releases, which are available in her shop now. This first one I’m posting today is from a weekend camping trip we took at the end of July at Fort Custer, using the Life Lessons kit and Captured stamp set.
This Creative Team opportunity gave me the push to start something I've been wanting to do for quite some time and I plan to record my process for each of my layouts in this album. If you would like to see how my spreads (and other projects) come together, check out my YouTube channel and subscribe here. At the moment, I plan to continue posting here on my blog as well.
The blues in Kelly’s Life Lessons kit reminded me of the blue sky in the photo of my kids at the lake, so I primarily used those in this spread, along with the stamps in the Captured stamp set. As a way of remembering what site we were on (for reference when we book a future trip), I like to trim down our camping permit and add it to a pocket. I kept the journaling minimal and simply used the blue 1-4 card to list out my four favorite memories from our weekend away.
I’m fond of adding narrow inserts inside my albums and mini books, and this one is no different. They work out great for me when I need a little extra space for more photos or to tell a complete story.
On the backside of the 3x8 insert, I created a photo collage of shots I took at our campsite. Snap happy, indeed. I loved how that morning sun peeked through the trees. It was incredibly peaceful and relaxing.
The kits also comes with a sheet of alphabet stickers in a great simple font. In the Life Lessons kit this month, the alpha is gray and I added a “yes” to the edge of my plate in this layout. They are the perfect staple to keep in my minimal stash.
Now I'm off to enjoy the rest of what's left of our summer - more camping, a BBQ with friends and some outdoor yoga - before my kids head back to school next week!
